Now the days are getting shorter maybe have a chat to an elderly friend or relative about warmer times to bring the sunshine in!

TOP TIP 2 WHAT'S ON TV

Ensure that your elderly relative or friend's favourite TV programmes are pre-recorded. A splash of Strictly or dropping into Downton could really warm up a winter's evening.

TOP TIP 3 FIRE SAFETY

Maybe offer to check an elderly neighbour's smoke alarms are working properly. We all know little things mean a lot.

TOP TIP 4 SPRING FORWARD, FALL BACK

When the clocks go forwards or back, check that all the clocks have been changed properly in an elderly relative's house, even the ones on the oven and radio.

On Bonfire night invite an elderly neighbour into share the fun if they like fireworks or pop round for a quick chat if they don't!

Buy a poppy for an elderly neighbour or friend who finds it difficult to get out of the house. It could mean a lot to them.
